Music Education

We’re so glad you’re here

With ten years of experience in the field, I offer playful, experiential classroom sessions where children feel safe and free to explore their bodies and voices at their own pace. I work to balance building strong foundational music skills and competencies while nurturing the whole child through the unique empathetic opportunities offered by the performing arts.

My curriculum is heavily influenced by my experience and training in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Orff Schulwerk, Music Learning Theory, and years of hands-on classroom time with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary students. My classes also integrate theater skills and storytelling techniques from my undergraduate work at Boston University.

Additionally, I'm fiercely committed to maintaining culturally responsive classrooms where our shared music repertoire reflects the diversity of the student body. As the co-creator of Fiddlefox, I have translated over 13 collections of songs in 18 languages and am comfortable singing songs in many different languages and curating new material to best represent each unique school community.

Group classes

In a typical teacher-led group music class with me, students and staff can expect to:

  • Follow musical instructions

  • Warm up their voices

  • Respond to live guitar and piano music through creative movement

  • Learn simple choreography repertoire

  • Experiment with movement props

  • Tell a musical story by playing all the parts and inventing new sounds and gestures

  • Interact with puppets

  • Sing songs in new languages

  • Interpret songs in American Sign Language

  • Compose their own rhythm patterns

  • Meet unusual instruments

  • Listen to samples of unique musical styles and performances

  • Navigate scales and modes through the voice and body.

Guided music exploration

I'm also comfortable facilitating student-led, informal music experiences in Montessori and Reggio Emilia-style classrooms.

I'm happy to work with administration and staff to find ways to create prepared music environments and offer time to teach students music outside of a traditional teacher-led session, or through a combination of structured and unstructured experiences.
