The Penelopiad (2013)

Phil composed music for Margaret Atwood’s feminist adaptation of The Odyssey performed at the Boston Center for the Arts. The play includes six songs with Atwood’s lyrics.

The production was directed by Elaine Vaan Hogue and featured Christine Hamel Woodberry as Penelope.

Video: “The Wily Sea Captain” follows Penelope as she hears rumors of her husband’s lusty adventures across the Mediterranean.


Audio demo: “Dream Boats” is sung by Penelope’s twelve maids as they endure their subjugation to mistress’s suitors.
